As Treasurer of the Young Democrats of America, Kristopher Anderson will be involved with the actual nuts and bolts that makes the ship sail smoothly. He is not only a visible advocate, but a vocal advocate for fiscal responsibility.
As a lifelong resident of the south side of Chicago, Kristopher J. Anderson was exposed to great local public servants starting with the Cook County Board President, John Stroger Jr., Alderman Todd H. Stroger, State Representative Marlow H. Colvin, and countless leaders of one of the most successful political organizations in Chicago, the 8th Ward Regular Democratic Organization. As a teenager, Kristopher looked up to his father , a police officer, and mother, a faithful worker in various ministries at New Heritage Cathedral, who focused their attention on protecting, serving, teaching, and providing necessary skills and services to the residents of the city of Chicago. His parents proved to be excellent role models, and influenced Kristopher to strive to help others through servitude and giving back to the schools, organizations, and church community he was a part of. Through the political arena, Kristopher found a way to help those who needed it the most. Many of his efforts were supported and influenced through his close participation with the 8th Ward Regular Democratic Organization and the Young Democrats.
Through hard work, dedication, and community service in and out of school, Kristopher was able to achieve one of his academic dreams by attending college at the University of Illinois. Although Kristopher engaged in many campus activities at the university, his commitment to public service and the Young Democrats never changed. His participation within the America Reads program gave him the privilege of working with children who struggled with English and reading. He saw first hand the dramatic improvements that the young kids made and vowed that he would work from that point on to help give all youngsters the opportunity to succeed in every area of life. While enjoying his college experience, Kristopher was allowed time to travel abroad to learn global perspectives on pressing political issues not only in the United States of America but the world as well. After graduating from the University of Illinois, Kristopher expanded his knowledge of public service within America by performing constituent service work with Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. Such an experience allowed Kristopher the ability to operate on all levels of government, ranging from City Council politics in Chicago to the state legislature in Illinois to Congressional politics of the United States. His tremendous knowledge and skills drawn from years of experience in of all areas of the political system will make him an outstanding Treasurer for the Young Democrats of America.
As a member of the Young Democrats of America, his reputation is characterized by the hard work, and dedication Kristopher has shown to the organization. One example of his hard work and dedication was through annual fundraising events such as "A Night Out with the Chicago Bulls". Through innovative thinking and action, Kristopher was able take a fellowship fundraising idea with little support and create the funds through personal financial investments. As a result of his precise planning and ability to execute a business plan, the profits created yielded a 30 percent increase from last years total. He has also served in many positions from the city, to state, and national levels. Some of the influential positions in which he operated in were Vice President of the Young Democrats of Illinois, Advisor to the chairwoman of the Young Democrats of Cook County (YDCC), as well as the Vice Chairman of Finance of the Young Democrats of America. His wealth of experience in financial matters will be a great asset to the organization and take the organization to heights never seen before.
As Treasurer Kristopher Anderson works efficiently and ethically to ensure our organization maintains the highest professional standards. When elected, he will institute a tutorial on the Young Democrats of America website about Federal Election Commission filings and hold workshops for state treasurers at national committee meetings. Kristopher will be a treasurer of and for all Young Democrats who will need his services to assist them in developing skills to not only be effective leaders but influential public servants for others who will need their help.
